グアテマラの権造からメール

塩月に同行中の権造からメール。

The situation in some regions of Guatemala is very bad. The rains have created a lot of problems, there are landslides everywhere but nothing really dangerous in the areas where we have been.

グアテマラの地域によってはかなりひどい状況。豪雨はいたるところで土砂崩れを引き起こしているが、我々が訪問している場所は全然問題ない。

We have been mostly in the eastern side of the country but the really serious problems are in the western side of the country. Mr. Oya and his friends were in Panajachel, which is in the western side, and had a lot of problems to come to Guatemala City to join us because the landslides were blocking the roads. They could not come yesterday as was the plan originally and they could barely come today.

現在、我々がいるグアテマラ東部よりも、西部の方がひどい状況になっている。オーヤさんとその仲間たちは西部のパナハッツェルにいたため、土砂崩れで道路が遮断され、予定していた昨日はグアテマラシティーに来ることが出来ず、今日になってようやくシティーに到着。我々と合流した。

 We were planning on going to Huehuetenango tomorrow but we decided to cancel it. Huehuetenango is in the western side of the country and there are a lot of landslides on the roads so we decided that we better not take the risk. Instead we will visit a farm in a new region located in the eastern side of the country called Esquipulas which produces high quality coffee.
Mr. Shige and Hama were very impressed with Pampichin, a farm located in the Fraijanes region and which is beautiful, located in the shore of the Amatitlan lake. We cupped some of that cofffee today and it was really good.

明日、ウエウエテナンゴへ行く予定だったが、ウエウエへの道は土砂崩れで道路が遮断されている可能性が高いことから、行くのを断念した。その代わり、東部にある新しい産地エスキプラスへ行くことにした。シゲさんとハマさんは、フライハーネスにあるアティトゥラン湖畔にあるパンピンチン農園の美しさに感激していた。本日カッピングをしたが、いい味だった。後で写真を送る。


ということで、残念ながら、ウエウエテナンゴのサンフェルナンド農園、ドンアントニオ農園は行けなかったようです。
